Skin Boosters

Profhilo

An injectable skin remodelling treatment containing very high concentrations of ultra pure Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance produced in our body, found in skin, joints and other connective tissue. Its role is to retain moisture in the body and aid collagen production. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water which makes it ideal for binding moisture in the skin.

How does it work?

Due to its gel like consistency Profhilo distributes smoothly and evenly without the formation of any lumps – a potential risk with traditional fillers. This means it can be used on areas which are difficult to treat with traditional fillers, such as the neck and forehead. It is injected just underneath the surface of the skin where it disperses quickly and reacts with your own tissue to instantly boost hydration. Over the next four weeks phase two kick in as it goes to work boosting elastin and collagen production. This effectively remodels the skin and giving it a plumper, smoother and firmer appearance.

How many treatments are needed?

The full treatment consists of two sessions, one month apart. A further session may be recommended after approximately six months in order to prolong the effect. Profhilo can be used on its own or in conjunction with other fillers, wrinkle treatments, laser treatments or as a complementary, rather than a competitive treatment.

What are the risks?

No allergy test is required prior to treatment. The risk of allergic reactions is substantially reduced because Profhilo does not contain any synthetic chemicals which some people might react to. Some people may experience redness, slight bruising, tenderness as well as itching at the injection sites but these are temporary and should resolve within a few hours to a day. As with any procedure, it is important to find an experienced and qualified practitioner to carry out the treatment.

Profhilo Structura

Profhilo Structura is an innovative injectable treatment designed to restore volume and support in the deeper layers of the skin, particularly in areas like the cheeks and mid-face. It uses the same NAHYCO® hybrid hyaluronic acid technology as Profhilo but is specifically formulated for injection into the subcutaneous (fat) layer rather than the superficial dermis. This allows it to provide subtle volumising effects and improve facial contours without the heaviness of traditional fillers.

How does it work?

Profhilo Structura works by using a hybrid complex of high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, which is injected into the deeper layers of the skin and fat tissue. This formulation stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which helps restore volume, improve skin firmness, and support facial contours. The treatment targets areas that have experienced volume loss and sagging, offering structural support while maintaining a natural and subtle appearance.

How many treatments are needed?

Typically, two treatments are needed, spaced 4 weeks apart. For maintenance, a session every 6 to 12 months is usually suggested, depending on individual needs and the degree of volume loss.

What are the risks?

As with any injectable treatment, there are some risks involved. Common side effects include swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites, which usually resolve within a few days. There is also a small risk of infection, allergic reactions, or uneven results if the treatment is not performed by a skilled professional. However, these complications are rare when the procedure is done by an experienced practitioner.

How does it work?

Polynucleotides originate from freshwater fish. They work by promoting hydration, increasing the number of viable fibroblasts and elastin fibres, and increasing collagen synthesis. This helps to create a natural, healthy glow to the skin.

How many treatments are needed?

Usually, a course of 2 or 3 treatments carried out 2/3 weeks apart is required. Results can last up to 12 months, although this is different for each patient.

What are the risks?

Pain or stinging during treatment, although this is reduced with the use of numbing creams, swelling, redness or bruising can occur, but these are transient and usually resolve within a few days.

Belotero Revive/Redensity I

Teosyal Redensity I and Belotero Revive focus on skin quality enhancement rather than volumisation. Teosyal Redensity I is particularly effective in treating delicate areas such as under the eyes and the neck, where traditional fillers may not always be suitable, due to its light consistency and regenerative ingredients. It works well for patients showing early signs of aging or skin fatigue. Belotero Revive ensures even integration into the skin, minimising the risk of lumpiness and allowing for a smoother, more uniform finish. Its inclusion of glycerol also helps attract and retain moisture long-term, making it ideal for improving skin hydration and resilience in patients with early sun damage or loss of skin firmness.

How does it work?

Teosyal Redensity I and Belotero Revive are both injectable skin boosters designed to improve skin quality through deep hydration and dermal revitalisation, but they work in slightly different ways due to their formulations. Redensity I works by delivering a combination of non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid along with a unique blend of amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals directly into the skin. This not only hydrates but also promotes collagen production and overall skin regeneration. Belotero Revive, on the other hand, uses a patented CPM (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix) hyaluronic acid combined with glycerol to improve skin hydration, elasticity, and firmness while smoothing fine lines and enhancing skin texture.

How many treatments are needed?

In terms of treatment protocols, both products typically require an initial course of three treatments spaced about 3–4 weeks apart, depending on individual skin condition and the nurse’s assessment. Some patients may see visible improvements after just one session, but optimal results are generally achieved after the full course. Maintenance treatments are usually recommended every 4 to 6 months to preserve the results.

What are the risks?

As with any injectable treatment, there are some risks involved. Common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites, which usually resolve within a few days. More serious risks such as allergic reactions, infections, or vascular complications are rare but possible. Choosing a qualified practitioner significantly reduces these risks and ensures a safer, more effective outcome.
